Matilda Banfield joined Fremantle as a rookie signing ahead of the 2025 season. A cross-code athlete, Banfield comes from a hockey background, having featured in multiple Hockey Australia Women’s Future Squads and, in 2024, being selected as a train-on for the Perth Thundersticks Women’s team. 19-year-old Banfield stood out with her elite running capabilities, finishing equal first in the Club’s pre-season time trials and will look to add that speed to Fremantle’s side in 2025.
