Sunday’s grand final between the undefeated Coastal Titans and Swan Districts will be the first time a women’s final has been held on an AFL ground.
Fremantle Community Development Manager David Crute said the club was thrilled to give the WAWFL the chance to play their grand final at WA’s home of football in the league’s 21st year of competition.
“Fremantle Football Club is committed to supporting female football in WA and, as such, is thrilled to offer the opportunity to the WAWFL in their milestone year,” Mr Crute said.
AFL Commissioner Samantha Mostyn will present the premiership medallions to the victorious players.
The WA Football Commission and AFL’s Female Football Development Manager Jan Cooper said she was excited about this historic occasion.
“Being able to celebrate the 21st WAWFL grand final on Subiaco Oval is a wonderful occasion for women’s football and football in general,” Ms Cooper said.
“Fremantle Football Club allowed this to occur and, along with the tremendous support from the facilities staff at Subiaco, they need to be thanked for their ongoing support of female football development in this State.
“Let the game begin!”
Bouncedown is scheduled for 11:30am on Sunday.
