Lachie Schultz’s trade to Collingwood is complete, with Fremantle receiving a future first round selection and pick no.34 in 2023.

The trade means Fremantle now hold three first round selections in 2024, with their own selection as well as the picks tied to Collingwood and Port Adelaide.

Schultz was drafted to Fremantle in the 2018 AFL Draft at no.57. He played 90 games over five seasons and kicked 101 goals.

Fremantle now hold picks 34, 46, 60 and 64 in the 2023 AFL Draft.

Head of Player Personnel David Walls said the Club was pleased with the result of the reluctant trade.

“It’s obviously disappointing to see Lachie depart after seeing him arrive at pick 57 in 2018 and develop into the player he is today,” Walls said.

“In return, we have boosted our draft hands this year and next. We have three first round picks for 2024 as well as pick 34 in 2023, which is our highest current pick in the draft.

“We know Lachie loved his time at Fremantle and we were understanding of his reasons for returning to Victoria.

“It was a smooth process working through the trade with Collingwood, Lachie and his management and we wish Lachie, Maddie and their families all the best.”
