Fremantle took part in their second and final intraclub match on Friday morning, playing four 30-minute quarters.

On a much cooler day compared to the Club’s first intraclub game, players from both the White and Purple teams looked to seize their chances to capitalise on fast-paced ball movement and link-up plays.

An end-to-end affair saw the White team take a narrow 27 – 19 lead at the first break, with overlapping handball and pace through the middle of the ground a stand out for both teams.

Michael Frederick (White) opened the day with a goal off one step from 35 metres out after his team fought hard to move the ball out of defence.

Captain Alex Pearce (White) stood tall, winning two vital one-on-one marks deep in defence for White as the team looked to rebound quickly through the likes of Ethan Hughes, Ethan Stanley and Karl Worner.

The second term saw Purple flip the script and go into the main break with a 20-point lead (53 – 33) as their tall forwards impacted the scoreboard.

Both Josh Treacy and Max Knobel kicked consecutive goals for Purple as they capitalised on the hard work and repeat forward 50 entries made upfield.

This was highlighted in a play starting at half-back with Jordan Clark (Purple) breaking a tackle and linking with James Aish, who switched the play to the far wing where Jeremy Sharp gathered and delivered a 40-metre dart to the chest of Josh Treacy, who went back and nailed a set shot from the boundary.

Josh Draper (Purple), Sharp and Clark combined again soon after, with Clark this time being the supplier of a pass inside 50 to Treacy for back-to-back goals.

White was able to slightly reduce the margin to 17-points (67-50) by the end of the third term as the midfield unit got busy.

The quarter was highlighted by the return of Brandon Walker (Purple) as he played his first match minutes since his patella tendon injury against Collingwood last year.

The dynamic defender wasted no time getting back to work, as he got involved in several defensive efforts for Purple, even providing a highlight sidestep to evade a tackle.

Caleb Serong’s impact began to be felt as the young midfielder won multiple clearances from stoppage and combined well with his defensive unit to work the ball out of the defensive 50.

Luke Jackson’s versatility was on display throughout the third term, with the big man impacting the ruck and forward line, kicking his third goal halfway through the quarter as he followed up on some repeat efforts from Patrick Voss (White).

With the match in the balance in the final term, Purple struck first with back-to-back goals, extending the lead as Draper opened the final 30 minutes with a goal.

A second goal followed shortly after for Purple, as a fast midfield clearance involving Hayden Young and Andrew Brayshaw provided Jye Amiss with the opportunity to take front position and take a chest mark, slotting his third goal of the day.

As pressure mounted for White the experienced voice of Michael Walters (White) could be heard encouraging his team both on and off the field. This came to fruition as consistent forward pressure forced a turnover for White, with Walters gathering the ball in the centre square, lowering his eyes and hitting new signing Voss on the lead for White to open their account for the quarter.

Sean Darcy (Purple) was all but able to seal the game for his team with the Ruckman standing tall, taking consecutive intercept marks from kick-out before Amiss kicked his fourth major of the day.

Late goals to Matt Taberner (White) and Serong weren’t enough as Purple emerged 20-point victors, levelling the intraclub games at one apiece.

Jackson and Amiss both finished the day with four goals each, while Josh Treacy kicked three of his own.
