Fremantle Senior Coach Justin Longmuir says Saturday’s win over the Hawks was a mature showing, highlighting the Club’s ability to maintain a consistent mentality through the tough loss to the Swans - and that they would treat the thrilling win against Hawthorn the same way.

“That game (against Sydney) could have gone either way. It didn’t go our way, but we treated it for what it was,” Longmuir said.

“We didn’t overreact, and we’re not going to overreact to a win this week.

“We understand the challenges we’ve got ahead of us, and we’ve just tried to live in the moment.

“I thought we were able to regroup, tidy up a few things that let us down last week, and put out a better performance this week.

“That will be our goal again next week (against Collingwood).”

Backs against the wall at three-quarter time, the team rose to the occasion in a finals-like atmosphere, with Longmuir highlighting leadership across the ground - none more so than vice-captain Andrew Brayshaw, who was sensational in the contest, posting a new career-high 14 tackles to go with his 29 disposals.

"He was disappointed with his game last week,” Longmuir said.

“I know Joel Corey (midfield coach) asked him for more defensively, and he's a barometer for us when he's bringing his pressure and his trademark efforts to chase down.

“Him leading the way, and all our leaders stepping up, is an area of focus that’s really important.

“The importance of each game is magnified now, clearly.

“We have to make sure we keep handling it the right way - every game from here until the end of the season means a lot.

“We’ve got to make sure we prepare really well, but also don’t get too tense under the pressure. Play with freedom, keep trusting ourselves, and try to play our way.

“The players have got a lot of confidence, and if we can execute the way we want to play, we can beat anyone.”

Enjoying an electric, finals-like atmosphere thanks to a 49,460-strong home crowd, Longmuir says embracing the challenge of Collingwood and their passionate home fans in Round 19 will be a test the team is prepared for.

“(Collingwood) is the biggest challenge in footy,” Longmuir said.

“You go not only to take on Collingwood, who are the best team in the comp, but you also take on the Magpie Army. It's a great challenge for us."

Fremantle sit eighth on the AFL ladder with a record of 11 wins and 6 losses.
