Fremantle forward Murphy Reid has been named in the forward pocket of the final 22under22 team.
Earlier this month, Reid was named in the initial squad alongside fellow forward Pat Voss, before a fan vote decided the final team.
Reid is having an outstanding debut season, featuring in all 22 games so far and averaging 14 disposals, 2.1 marks, 2 tackles, and a goal per game as part of Fremantle’s dangerous forward-line unit.
Most impressively, Reid also boasts 19 direct score assists (ranked as elite by Champion Data) for the season, as well as 120 score involvements (ranked as above average).
Drafted at pick No. 17 in last year’s AFL National Draft, the crafty midfielder has transitioned to a forward role and thrived after primarily playing as a midfielder in his junior years.
The 19-year-old made his debut in Round 1, when he hit a purple patch and kicked four goals in just 10 minutes against Geelong.
In Round 6, Reid was nominated for the Telstra AFL Rising Star following a performance that included 17 disposals, three marks, two tackles, and a goal against Melbourne. Arguably, his best performance came five rounds later, with 18 disposals and four goals in a 49-point win over Port Adelaide in Round 11.
Reid has been named alongside Aaron Cadman (GWS Giants) and Nate Caddy (Essendon) in the full forward line.
