Fremantle key forward Pat Voss has signed a four-year contract extension that will see him remain at the Club until at least 2030.
Previously signed to Fremantle as a Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) pick in the summer of 2024, Voss’ extension adds another layer to his football journey.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a breakout second season of playing senior AFL football, kicking 37 goals across 20 games, finishing behind only Josh Treacy in the Club’s 2025 goalkicker tally.
Fremantle Head of Player Personnel David Walls says locking in the 22-year-old, who was an unrestricted free agent due to the fact he had been delisted by Essendon at the end of 2023, was a great result for the Club.
“He’s loving life in WA, is loving life at Freo, but also wants to repay the Club for giving him his opportunity” Walls said.
“He was in a very unique situation that you’ve got a 22-year-old who's an unrestricted free agent, a key forward, and coming off a really strong year.
“He would have had clubs chasing him, and they would have been coming harder and harder as well, due to the fact that you don't have to trade for him.
“It was a bit of a unique situation that one. But great to have him commit and add four more years on top of his one remaining next year.”
Voss’ second go at an AFL career is one built off hard work, belief, and determination, first instilled in him by senior coach Justin Longmuir and forwards coach Jaymie Graham.
"He was just desperate for an opportunity as an SSP and to train on,” Walls said.
“So, when we offered (a train on position) to him, he definitely grabbed it with both hands, and he's run with it.
“From the moment we got him as a train-on, nobody has worked harder.
“It’s a credit to him, and it's also a credit to our coaching guys too. I think Jaymie Graham, JL, these guys have done a lot of work with Voss, and he's improved out of sight off the back of that work.”
Adding to his on-field achievements in 2025, which included a career-high six-goal haul against Collingwood at the MCG in a thrilling one-point win, Walls explained the forward was a genuine all-round clubman, liked by all.
“You see the energy he brings, it’s everywhere. In training, in meetings, and amongst the group he’s an enthusiastic, energetic bloke who’s got time for everyone,” Walls said.
With Voss now locked in until 2030, Fremantle’s trio of key tall forwards, Voss, Josh Treacy (also signed through to 2030), and both Jye Amiss and Luke Jackson (signed until 2029), have all committed their futures to the Club.
All three forwards are aged between 22 and 24, giving Freo a solid, youthful core of tall forwards for years to come.
Reflecting on the new deal, Voss shared his heartfelt appreciation for Fremantle, saying he’s grateful to be part of such an exciting young group and is eager to keep building alongside his fellow forwards.
"I'm absolutely pumped and so excited for what’s ahead,” Voss said.
“There was never a thought to leave at all, I absolutely love the Club and I’ve got full faith we are going in the right direction.
“You see the longer-term contracts being signed by guys like Hayden Young, Andy Brayshaw, Josh Treacy and Luke Jackson and we’ve got the best coaching group around us.
“I feel so supported and so grateful that we’ve got the supporter base we do and I honestly think it's the best in the country.
“My favourite part of the week is running out at Optus and hearing that crowd. I feel so loved and supported and I feel like I’ve got the whole Purple Army behind me.”
