Senior coach Ross Lyon says that Fremantle need to improve their wet weather footy, and added that they can’t rely on having dry conditions when taking on the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

Fremantle have averaged 45 points per game from their past three appearances, with all three games played in wet or greasy conditions.

Lyon said that Fremantle may not get any relief from the wet against the Bulldogs.

“It’s really interesting Marvel. The last time we were there when we played Essendon and the roof was shut, they had the sprinklers on during the day so it was still a bit greasy and slippery.

“Our entries, we've had them but it’s been very difficult, (Optus Stadium) is very difficult when it’s wet and greasy.”

“Our attack’s been decimated for talls and we’re certainly playing with penetration, that’s why we’ve worked around it.

“It’s all about dropped marks and fumbles - you’ll score a bit more (if you’re) cleaner and make better decisions.”

Lyon said that he and the team were not getting caught up in media reports about his coaching future, with Lyon contracted at the club until at least the end of the 2020 season.

“We’ve got a big game against the Western Bulldogs, we’re one game out of the eight so I’m not going to indulge hypotheticals,” Lyon said.

“I’m clearly committed here and I’m enjoying my time.

“I’m committed to my contract and I’m enjoying my time here.

“I’m really close to (captain) Nathan (Fyfe) and the leadership group. Our players fought on like caged lions on the weekend and we’ve really improved.

“We’ve got some significant big man injury worries, but we’re finding a way and we’re one game out (of the eight). That’s my focus.”
