Fremantle key forward Jye Amiss says he is loving playing as part of the three-pronged attack up forward, saying the key forward group is constantly pushing each other to be better.

Following another impressive showing where Amiss, Josh Treacy and Pat Voss combined for 11 goals between them against the reigning premiers Brisbane on the weekend, Amiss said the group would continue to improve.

“I’m really loving it,” Amiss said.

“We’ve had another pre-season together.

“It sort of started off with me and Josh, and then Patty came onto the scene last year and had a really good year.

“Then to have another pre-season together and train together, learn a lot off each other as well, has been really important.

“Just the way that we train and our standards as well, we push each other every day. We’re out there in the morning, doing touch, and we’re really physical in training.

“We try and make each other better.”

Speaking on his own year – where he’s already kicked 30.18 from 12 games, compared to his 32.16 output from 24 games last year – Amiss said progress isn’t linear and felt like he still made major strides in his game in a season many thought was down on form.

“I’d call it that I’m building my game off the back of another pre-season (this year),” Amiss said.

“I think last year I improved my footy. Some may say I didn’t improve my footy last year, but internally I’ve improved my footy and learned a lot more about how to use my body, different contests, different opposition.

“Obviously I had a couple of things going on last year. Everyone has something going on, whether people know it or they don’t know it, but I thought I handled that well last year and learnt some more stuff about my body.

“It’s good to be able to train. I love to train well. I set high standards for myself at training, and it’s been good to be able to get good blocks of training as well.

“Like I mentioned before, last year I was still able to train, whether it was little bits, even if I wasn’t out there as much. If it was in a couple of drills, I’d still do them with purpose, as little as that was."
