Fremantle senior coach Justin Longmuir said the loss to the Giants was an 'un-Fremantle-like performance'.
Speaking at his post-match media conference, Longmuir said he will assess the game for what it was and won’t catastrophise the result.
“As a coach, you try and work on trends and not events, and you don't try and be too reactive, so I’m definitely not going to overreact to one loss.
“I thought we fought our own battles a little bit today.
“That's probably a sign you're not playing with the right mindset, or you’re not rocking up with the right mindset.
“I’ll have a look at the week in a bit more detail and have a discussion around warning signs.
“We just weren't willing to work in all phases, so it felt like we made it pretty easy for GWS at times.
“Credit to them, I thought they played well. They were strong. They pressured us well, especially their first pressure player, and then they worked off that really well, which made us look unorganised at times.
“(The performance) was not us, it hasn't been us. We've valued the right things largely this year, and we've got a short turnaround to be able to get back on the horse.
“Does one game define you? We've been in good form for a long time, we're on top of the ladder. Trust me, we're not going to catastrophise one loss too much.”
Positively, Longmuir revealed he believes midfielder Hayden Young has avoided serious injury after not completing the second half of the game with a groin issue, but will still likely miss the Swans clash on a short turnaround.
“We think he's just got a bit of a tight groin, so we're hoping he's right,” Longmuir said.
“This is what happens when you miss a lot of footy, I guess. It’s not necessarily the first or second game back, it can be after three or four, and something else bobs up.
“Hopefully it's not bad, hopefully he doesn't miss that many games.
“We’re off a five-day break, so there’s a chance he’ll miss one.
“I think that's the challenge when you've missed a lot of footy, not necessarily the first few weeks, but it can come after that, and we've just got to work our way through it.”
Fremantle will now have a six-day break before taking on second-on-the-ladder Sydney at Optus Stadium on Thursday 9 July.
The match will also be the Club’s Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly presented by South32.
