It was a cold but sunny morning for Fremantle’s second AFLW pre-season intraclub match at Cockburn ARC Oval. Here’s what we learned…
Mim is going to have max. impact
Whether she was punching forward or tapping to the midfield, Mim Strom showed she’ll once again be a massive presence for Fremantle in 2026.
The two-time All Australian plying her craft beautifully and building on the chemistry that already exists with her teammates in the middle.
Strom was proficient around the ground, taking some strong marks as she builds toward Fremantle’s first match simulation against the Crows on Friday.
Morning Kauffy
Meg Kauffman has always been the ultimate professional and her presence up forward in the second intraclub of the pre-season was noticeable.
A fresh face in the leadership group for 2026, Kauffman not only impacted strongly with a couple of nice goals - including one from 45m out - but could also be heard directing players and encouraging the youngsters, sharing her invaluable experience.
Noa “Noa-s” where the goals are…
Making her intraclub debut, draftee Noa McNaughton showed composure around goal. The small forward booted a handful in her first intraclub hitout and laid several tackles.
McNaughton, who was drafted from East Fremantle in May, moved into the main team’s forward line in the third quarter, working with Georgie Brisbane and others to create scoring opportunities.
Fresh Freo faces
Aoife Healy took another step up in her second intraclub game. The Irish recruit was pinpoint with her kicking, clean off-hand and laid a nice tackle, showing a natural instinct for the game and getting better every outing.
Charli Hazelhurst was a strong presence on-field, finding her feet positionally and playing well for four quarters.
Mon Bessen also stepped up in Fremantle’s final intraclub match, playing to her strengths on a wing.
