Fremantle senior coach Justin Longmuir has revealed two key selection calls made ahead of the team’s trip to South Australia to face Port Adelaide.

Speaking at his Thursday morning media conference, Longmuir confirmed ruckman Mason Cox will hold his spot in the side to play his 150th AFL game, while star midfielder Shai Bolton will be managed and not make the trip.

“Mason's (Cox) going to hold the spot,” Longmuir said.

“I’ve spoken to Sean (Darcy). He's disappointed, but when we managed him last week we told him there were no guarantees, and Mason's obviously come out and played really well.

“There's just not too much in it at the moment, so Mason's going to hold his spot.”

Longmuir also confirmed Hayden Young had recovered from the minor groin injury that saw him sit out most of the second half in the Round 17 loss to GWS. Young will return to the side in place of Bolton, who he has chosen to rest.

“He's (Young) going to play for Bolts,” Longmuir said.

“Bolts is going to be managed this week. He's dealing with an injury that could benefit from a week off.

“So that's as far as I need to go into it. It's not serious, it's probably a ‘one-weeker’.

“It's a good opportunity to manage him, and Hayden will come in and play a similar role to the one Bolts has been playing.”

Fremantle’s full team line-up will be announced at fremantlefc.com.au at 4.20pm WST today.
