Fremantle captain Alex Pearce says he has no plans to rest for the final home and away clash of the season despite copping a knock to his knee in the 24-point win over Adelaide.
Managed for Fremantle’s most recent trip to Melbourne, Pearce is ready to lead the minor premiers against Carlton at Marvel Stadium next weekend.
“With the week off after the season, you don’t want two weeks off heading into finals,” Pearce told Radio 6PR from the changerooms immediately after downing the Crows.
“I would’ve thought we’d be playing a full strength team. We played some good footy tonight, but we weren’t at our best – we’ve got things to work on and it’ll be another opportunity to improve and come up against a side that’s red hot in the Blues.
“It’s another travel experience as well which we obviously didn’t get done last time, so it’ll be a good challenge for us.”
The 31-year-old skipper also dispelled fears of a fresh injury concern after a knee on knee collision with teammate Oscar McDonald early in the third term.
“Just a stinger I think. One of those ones, just got contact and the knee was a bit sore,” Pearce said.
“After sort of hobbling around a little bit it started to come good. It felt like a stinger and I didn’t feel it again for the rest of the game so all good and nothing to worry about.”

Pearce said he felt fresh going into the Crows clash following a weekend off and was thrilled to return and play alongside fellow defender Luke Ryan in his 200th AFL game.
“I’ve played with some great men over my journey,” said Pearce.
“He gives everything for his teammates. He’s so unselfish, he never wants any accolades, he wouldn’t get chaired off after the game.
“I think he’s everyone’s favourite teammate, how courageous he is. He’s always the one getting to players and picking them up off the deck and hugging everyone.
“He’s an inspiration to play with. He’s been durable, he’s one of the greats and it’s been a priviledge to play alongside him.”
