West Coast won the contested possessions 141-131 and had a 36-29 clearance advantage in the round 9 Derby.
But it was a totally different story on Saturday, with Mundy getting the ball rolling from the opening bounce, winning the first hard-ball and clearance.
By the final siren, Fremantle had won a staggering 39 more contested possessions and 14 clearances
"It's about time," Mundy said.
"As a midfielder, we've been getting hounded all year about ground balls and clearances, so it's good to come away with a win."
Mundy credited the efforts of ruckmen Jon Griffin and Kepler Bradley against star Eagles' duo Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui.
"They both had a massive task today against some A-grade ruckmen from the Eagles," he said.
"Their work, both in the centre bounces and around the ground, was massive."
The 2010 Doig Medallist said Fremantle's midfielders stood taller knowing the form captain and eight-goal hero Matthew Pavlich was in up forward.
"He's a giant, he just needs a supply," Mundy said.
"That's all we really focus on, trying to get it down to him and let him go to work, and all the little guys to lock it in."
