Freo hit the track on Wednesday in their separate groups for a training session at Victor George Kailis Oval.

Here are the main takeaways from each group.

GROUP 1
After an interrupted return to training a fortnight ago, Sam Sturt looked at his best in the group one session.
Sturt missed training last Friday due to a minor back complaint but appeared unrestricted in the session.
The round one NAB AFL Rising Star nominee moved freely, was skillful on the run and flew for marks as he looks to retain his spot in the team for round two.
Senior coach Justin Longmuir said he hopes to increase Sturt's training load later this week.
“Sam hasn’t done any contact work yet and he hasn’t been pushed on ground balls and that type of thing with his back injury," Longmuir said.
“We hope to get him in there in the early part of Friday’s training session, see how he pulled up over the weekend and ramp things up next week."
Also in group one, forward Jesse Hogan banked another solid session after making his return to the club in May.

GROUP 2
It was a smaller group two after Cam McCarthy required medical attention and was forced to miss the rest of the session.
While Lloyd Meek took part in the first half, he undertook a separate, and extensive, aerobic session as a part of his usual schedule in advance of what will be a big full-contact training session for the ruckman on Friday.
Stefan Giro appeared back at full fitness as he completed the session alongside the likes of Michael Walters, Mitch Crowden and Darcy Tucker.

GROUP 3
Group three saw Nat Fyfe leading the way for a number of young Freo mids, including Adam Cerra, Caleb Serong, Luke Valente and Tom North.
Brett Bewley looked sharp and impressed with his laser left foot.
Valente was quick and hit a number of targets on the run inside 50, earning an air-fist-bump from Fyfe.
A potential midfield of the future was on show as Fyfe, Serong and Cerra teamed up outnumbered against James Aish, Bewley, North and Valente in a stoppage drill.
Valente and Fyfe would lock horns in the drills, with Valente not afraid to push the captain around, however he received plenty in return from the Brownlow Medallist.

GROUP 4
Sean Darcy was a welcome face in group four, taking part in the full session after his head knock on Monday.
David Mundy brought his experience to the group, and was keen to share his advice with his younger teammates, including an extensive conversation with Michael Frederick about leading patterns between drills.
An emergency for round one, defender Tobe Watson continued to show he was ready for an AFL call-up, highlighted by his quick movement, decision making and sharp kicks.
Connor Blakely and Andrew Brayshaw were lively in the midfield drills, with Blakely winning more than his fair share of clearances.

GROUP 5
It might have just been the hair, but it was hard to not notice Liam Henry in group five.
Henry is yet to re-join full training but he took part in Wednesday’s lighter session.
The 18-year-old showed why Freo locked him in with a top-10 pick, gathering the footy quickly and cleanly and hitting targets on the run with his left foot. A quick one-two with Hayden Young before hitting Luke Ryan on the lead was the highlight.

GROUP 6
Group six had a good mix of forwards and defenders, allowing coach Roger Hayden to test forwards Rory Lobb and Brandon Matera against the likes of Griffin Logue, Brennan Cox, Dillon O’Reilly, Jason Carter and Jarvis Pina.
Hayden set up a two v two inside 50, where Lobb and Matera worked against Logue and Cox.
O’Reilly and Pina earned cheers from teammates watching on from the sidelines as they threaded the needle to hit their targets.
Later, O’Reilly chased down to spoil a Lobb lead, leaving Lobb to clap his hands in frustration.
