Finals a certainty

Fremantle’s enters the last month of the home and away season knowing a finals appearance is now a mathematical certainty. It’s the first time in the club’s history that it will play finals in consecutive seasons. All that remains to be determined now, is from which position on the ladder will the club launch its September assault from. A top two finish is a possibility, but beating GWS and remaining in the top four remains first priority.

Mayne’s 100th

Chris Mayne plays his 100th game this weekend. The 24-year-old has become one of the most reliable set-shots in the AFL and arguably the hardest worker in the league. At least his coach thinks so.

Jeremy Cameron

The budding star managed seven goals against Collingwood at the MCG two weeks ago in a display that highlighted not only his potential, but the damage he can inflict right now. He currently sits third in the Coleman Medal race, just five goals behind WestCoast’s Josh Kennedy. Without Luke McPharlin, the job on Cameron could go to Zac Dawson.

Pav is back

After a three-game hiatus because of suspension, Fremantle’s inspirational skipper returns this Sunday. It’s been a stuttering season to date, so Pavlich will look to build as much form and fitness as he can over the next month in order to hit the finals series with momentum.

Giants off a win

Fremantle becomes the first team in the AFL this season to play a Giants’ side coming off a win. It will also be the last time the legendary Kevin Sheedy coaches against Fremantle and Ross Lyon. He’ll be sure to have his young side pumped after their maiden win of 2013.
