Stellar Pav
Fremantle’s captain is relishing the opportunity to play as a permanent forward. He’s kicked 20 goals in his past four matches and looks destined to add a seventh Doig Medal to his honour roll.

New and old faces
Fremantle welcomed back Kepler Bradley and Antoni Grover on Sunday. Kepler was important in successfully keeping Bulldogs’ defender Brian Lake out of Pav’s way, while Grover’s toughness was highlighted in a clash that saw him subbed off hurt in the second half. Debutant Cam Sutcliffe also made a good impression in his first game and looks set to be given further opportunities in the coming weeks.

Picken on Hilly
Freo star Stephen Hill had missed the past few games with an ankle injury. In his return game, the Dogs sent their best tagger Liam Picken to him. After just three touches in the first half, Hill found a bit more space in the second half. Expect him to build from that performance, but he can also expect to continue getting the opposition’s best tagger.

Crowls’ latest victim
Ryan Crowley not only booted a goal but he kept talented Bulldogs’ midfielder Ryan Griffen well down all afternoon. Griffen was gifted a goal after a Freo teammate had turned the ball over in defence. The super competitive Crowley didn’t look too pleased and threw his mouthguard to the ground in disappointment.

Ballantyne’s pressure
On a number of occasions in Sunday’s game, Hayden Ballantyne highlighted just what he brings to the Freo team. If he wasn’t chasing a man down and forcing pressure on disposal, he was throwing himself fearlessly in an attempt to smother a kick. ‘Ballaz’ was brilliant.
