Fremantle utility Nick Suban capped off winning the Foxtel Cup with Claremont with Fremantle’s WAFL player of the round award.

Suban had 15 disposals and kicked two important goals in the Tigers 44 point victory over Werribee.

Senior Development and Assistant Coach Simon Lloyd said Suban’s preparation for the Thursday night Foxtel Cup match was a major reason behind his solid display.

“Nick trained really well throughout the week and that flowed straight into his game,” he said.

“It was a really impressive effort and the great thing for us was to see Nick play the entire game as an inside midfielder and have a player run with him as well and produce a really solid effort.”

Lloyd shared his notes on all Freo Dockers that played WAFL

Nick Suban (C) 15 disposals (13 kicks, 2 handballs) 2 goals
Played in the Foxtel Cup against Werribee where Claremont had a good win. He played as an inside midfielder where he had a really well balanced game between attack and defence. He won his clearances and laid some strong tackles. The most impressive thing about Nick’s game was his effort, he ran some good angles and spread hard from stoppages.

Lachie Neale (SD) 17 disposals (9 kicks, 8 handballs) 3 marks, 3 tackles

Lachie played as an inside-mid and ran long and hard for four quarters. His tackling was a definite improvement and his first gives in congestion and ball handling was of a high level. He was probably the most effective inside player on the ground, although he did have a tight opponent on him.

Tom Sheridan (PT) 10 disposals (6 kicks, 4 handballs) 3 tackles
Tom played as a midfield winger and high forward. He worked hard defensively and showed some really good effort to join in and compete. We were pleased with Tom’s running patterns and his intensity to keep chasing and get back into defence. It was pleasing to see him react hard on turnovers and he gave it his all from the very first bounce.

Haiden Schloithe (P) 18 disposals (7 kicks, 11 handballs) 4 marks, 2 tackles

Haiden played a run with role on one of Perth’s best midfielder, Ross young. He started well keeping Young to two possessions. Haiden just needs to look at putting four quarters of this football together. It was good that he showed us this over the first quarter, but at times gave Young too much latitude and lost him on the burst. We were pleased with Haiden’s starting points at stoppages his ball use was positive and his checking has improved.

Jordan Wilson-King (SF) (Reserves) 21 disposals (15 kicks, 6 handballs) 5 marks, 7 tackles
Jordan played as an inside midfielder. Whilst he had a slow start where he just needed to work harder defensively, he worked himself into the game after half time. He was very clean around stoppages where he had first purchase on the football and several clearances. He laid some aggressive tackles. Jordan had a reasonable game and his ball use was a stand out.

Gavin Roberts (P) (Reserves) 19 disposals (9 kicks, 10 handballs) 4 marks, 7 inside 50
Gavin played as an inside mid winger. He showed some really good signs around the contest. His greatest asset is his speed, which he used to good effect. He put the opposition under a lot of pressure resulting in seven inside 50s and had a lot of impact around clearances. It was a positive game for Gavin.
