Jesse Hogan in action in a scratch match against GWS

Senior coach Justin Longmuir says forward Jesse Hogan remains a chance to play for the first time since early July when Fremantle take on Richmond at Metricon Stadium on Wednesday.

Hogan last played in round five against Adelaide where he picked up a calf injury.

“Jesse’s a chance, we haven’t (picked the team yet) because of the short turnaround, we’re going to leave it until our match committee this afternoon, just to give everyone an opportunity to get through training,” Longmuir said.

“He’ll come into the mix like he has the last few weeks.”

After recovering from his injury, Hogan has spent some time training and playing as a tall defender in Fremantle’s scratch matches for non-selected players but Longmuir said Hogan would play forward if selected.

“The last two games in the ressies he’s been forward, we’ve been working on a bit of his forward craft. If he comes in, it will be at that end of the ground,” Longmuir said.

Longmuir sympathised with Hogan’s struggles to break back into the team.

“He is (frustrated), like any player not playing,” Longmuir said.

“They want to be in the senior team and contributing. He’s a competitive beast and he wants to be out there dominating so he’s a bit frustrated in the whole situation.”
