Fremantle members and supporters are set to make a special tribute to Starlight Star Milli Lucas, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 14 following a long battle with cancer.

Thursday night’s clash against Geelong is the Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly presented by South32, which raises funds for seriously ill children and their families.

In the 14th minute of the opening term, fans can ‘stand and cheer for Milli’ in recognition of Milli’s happy place being Optus Stadium on a Freo game day and to show her family how much she was loved by the Purple Army.

The theme of the night is Forever 14, with Fremantle wearing a specially designed jumper by Milli’s brother Joel and sister Tess.

Thanks to Fremantle’s connection with Starlight, Milli was a special guest of the club for the day when Fremantle defeated Port Adelaide at Optus Stadium in 2019.

Milli tossed the coin, ran out with the team and sung the team song next to Nat Fyfe following the game, calling it the best day of her life.

The fundraising drive for this year’s game will be through the “Fans Pledge” platform, where fans pledge a donation for every goal Freo kick in the game. South32 will match the donations dollar for dollar (up to $50k) www.fanspledge.org.au.

This year is the 19th annual Starlight Purple Haze, with Fremantle fans, players and staff raising more than $1.8 million for Starlight since 2003.
