Fremantle are primed for Saturday’s big clash against second-placed Adelaide after playing their best football of Season 7 against Melbourne.

The team has a 6-day break following last weekend’s 30-point loss to the Demons with a captain’s run scheduled for Cockburn on Friday morning before boarding a flight to Adelaide.

Coach Trent Cooper has told Radio 6PR the players are in a “good head space” after registering one win and a draw from six rounds.

“After that Geelong game - when we sort of hit rock bottom in round two - things could’ve unravelled pretty quickly,” Cooper said.

“But the group was super focused and determined to work their way back into the season. We didn’t get results go our way the next two weeks, but at no stage have they dropped their heads.

“We got the result against West Coast, but I think we played even better on the weekend so that gives us a bit of confidence going forward.

“The scoreline might suggest otherwise but I thought it was our best performance of the year.”

Cooper says he’s disappointed to lose Dana East with concussion for the clash with the Crows.

“She was tested twice during the game and she was ok,” Cooper told 6PR.

“She became a bit overwhelmed post-match and we did some more tests and she has delayed concussion unfortunately.”

East is in concussion protocols and may be available to return for round eight against Collingwood.

Cooper also remains hopeful first-year defender Madi Scanlon could be back on the field later in the season.

“Against Carlton she (Scanlon) just copped a hit right down the middle,” Cooper said.

“She has fractured her fibula and wrist so is in a moon boot and has the wrist supported as well so she’ll be out for a little while unfortunately.”
