Walyalup have confirmed an extended squad of 26 for Sunday’s Sir Doug Nicholls Round clash with Essendon.
Bailey Banfield, Hugh Davies, Oscar McDonald, Nathan O’Driscoll, Chris Scerri and Jeremy Sharp have been named as potential inclusions for Sunday, all included on an extended interchange bench alongside Mason Cox and Neil Erasmus.
As confirmed by the Club on Tuesday, Alex Pearce is out of the side after injuring his knee in the dying seconds of last week’s win over Hawthorn.
Joining Pearce on the sidelines for Sunday are midfielder Hayden Young (concussion) and utility Corey Wagner (abductor).
“Unfortunately, Hayden has entered protocols with delayed concussion from an incident at training on Tuesday morning,” said Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty.
“He developed symptoms on Tuesday afternoon that persisted until he returned to the Club today. This now means he will miss our next two fixtures against Essendon and Euro-Yroke (St Kilda).”
Dual All Australian Caleb Serong will captain the side in Pearce’s absence.
As part of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round clash, Walyalup will proudly wear the Club’s 2026 Indigenous guernsey. The design has been brought to life through artwork by Mariah Yarran, in collaboration with Walyalup great Stephen Hill, with the central theme focusing on strong family connections and history.
The special edition is a throwback to Hill’s debut in the Club’s 2009 Purple Haze game, featuring a purple background with white anchor. The anchor on the front of the jumper includes symbols representing the journeys of different members of Hill’s family.
Walyalup’s extended squad will be trimmed to a final team of 23 at 3pm WST on Friday at fremantlefc.com.au.
