Fremantle small forward Chris Scerri has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the Club until at least the end of 2028.
Joining Fremantle in February this year as a Supplemental Selection Period pick, Scerri made his AFL debut against Melbourne in Round 2 and has played seven AFL games this season.
Scerri, who turned 20 last week, joins developing ruck Aiden Riddle, young forward Charlie Nicholls and utility Corey Wagner in extending their time in purple over the past month.
Fremantle Head of Player Personnel David Walls said Scerri has fitted in seamlessly at the Club.
“After coming in as a train-on player in November last year, Chris really impressed us with his work in the pre-season to earn a spot on our list," Walls said.
“Since we gave him that opportunity, he’s worked really hard at learning the role and working closely with teammates Sam Switkowski as well as coaches Jaymie Graham and Chris Mayne to adjust to AFL standard and our game plan.
“We have good depth in our forward department, and for Chris to come in and really lean on the more established guys already there really shows his eagerness to get better. Combined with his competitive nature and attitude, these are great traits to have.
“When he’s had to go back to Peel Thunder in the WAFL, he’s consistently shown his team-first mentality and impacted games with his speed, agility and forward-half pressure.
“Given what he’s shown in just a few months here, extending his time with us until at least 2028 is really exciting, and we’re keen to see where he can take his game.”
Scerri was previously on a one-year contract until the end of the 2026 season but now joins 18 other players at Fremantle contracted until at least 2028 or beyond.
