Harvey hails third road win
Mark Harvey was delighted with his side's first win at the SCG since 1996
"We won on the road, which we haven't been known for doing," Harvey said after the match. "We've done that three times now (in 2010), which is significant.
"None of us were here 14 years ago, but if we can keep breaking insignificant barriers down and it helps us towards being in the top four sides, we'll take it.
"We really held sway during long periods of time when they kept coming at us, then we made the most of it going forward.
"It's important that we can do that when the game is in the balance."
Freo created outstanding pressure, making a huge 97 tackles to the Swans' 81.
"I think there is a real malice about our tackling," Harvey said. "Sometimes we might not be strong enough because of our personnel but it's the intent that's important."
The side may have shown resilience to defeat the Swans in the wake of Michael Johnson's arrest for cocaine possession, but the coach was in no mood to discuss the issue, cutting short his post-match press conference.
Harvey, who had yet to comment on the arrest and charge, initially answered reporters' questions about Johnson, but appeared increasingly frustrated by them as the interview drew on.
Harvey suggested the team dealt with the issue quickly to put it behind them, while praising Johnson's character.
"People can speculate as much as they like. We had a five or 10-minute meeting about it, then it was all about getting on the road to Sydney," he said.
"If you know the person which you (journalists) don't, he's got a lot of character."
However, when pressed for his own personal reaction to Johnson's arrest and subsequent charge, the Fremantle coach clammed up before ending the press conference.
"I'm not here to talk about that - we've moved on.
"I don't need to speak about it - I actually don't need to speak about it - what's been said and done has been done by the football club."
