That’s the big story to come out of Fremantle’s four changes for this week’s vital clash against struggling Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.
His presence would add much-needed spark to injury-hit Fremantle’s chances of knocking off the Power.
The other inclusions saw reprieves given to Rhys Palmer and Dylan Roberton after the pair were dropped in the past fortnight.
The quartet to make way is Jayden Pitt, Jay van Berlo and Jack Anthony, who have been omitted, and the injured Adam McPhee.
Van Berlo and recruit Jon Griffin have travelled to Adelaide as emergencies.
Mature-age recruit Mzungu starred for Fremantle in the pre-season, but he is yet to play since injuring his left knee in a NAB Challenge clash with West Coast in March.
The 25-year-old found out he would be lining up against Port after Fremantle’s main training session at Paterson’s Stadium yesterday evening.
“I was pretty shocked, to be honest, not having played a WAFL game this year,” he said.
But Mzungu, whose father is Zimbabwean, said he was more than ready to go first up.
“Having played the pre-season games has given me a little bit of confidence,” he said.
“I’ll put my best foot forward.”
The 2010 Perth Demons’ best and fairest winner said his age should also hold him in good stead.
“I’ve played against men for quite a few years now so that should work in my favour,” he said.
Mzungu was well aware of what his teammates would expect of him when he runs out onto AAMI Stadium as a Fremantle Docker for the first time.
“They expect me to put my body on the line when it’s my turn to go and compete,” he said.

Fremantle coach Mark Harvey admitted playing Mzungu was a “massive punt” but one that has been forced upon the club given its 14-strong injury list.
"He's been out for a period of time, but that's where we're looking at," Harvey said of Mzungu.
“He had a really good practice game series.
“What does that count for? At least it gave us an indication that he’s somewhere near the level required.”
Harvey said the clash with Port, which has only won one game in 2011, was a big danger game.
“They’re in a development stage, in transition of their list, and so Matthew’s (Primus) looking for a different look to their team,” Harvey said.
“We’ve seen some of their senior players come in and out of their side.
“They haven’t got a lot of injuries at the moment and they’re playing a lot of younger players that they’re trying to find out about, which sometimes has a direct implication into winning and losing.”
The Freo coach said that despite two losses in a row, morale was still very high among the team.
“The way the guys have responded and moved on to the strategy of playing Port Adelaide this week, there’s no hint of, or a sign of, a lack of confidence,” he said.
“We know that we played well at this stadium a couple of weeks ago and that gives us a lot of confidence, too.”
